NEW & UPDATED LINKS TO FAMILY PICS AND/OR KOOL CUBA STUFF:

A CUBAN CRAIGLIST?!!?

Indeed, it exists! see http://www.revolico.com/

CONTINUING TO DEBUNK THE CHE MYTH:

Amigos,

As we continue to debunk the Che myth by bringing to light snippets of truth and highlighting what other amigos fixated with this issue are doing, I ran across a fascinating juxtapositioning of stories:

Geraldina called me from Cape Town (South Africa) to let me know that she indeed found the one Cuban restaurant in that otherwise beautiful city... It happens the restaurant is a nothing more than a propaganda piece for Che and Fidel... Needless to say, she did not eat there, though I believe she did spit on the doormat :-)

At the same time, here I was back home getting lost in my Cubano music when I noticed that the recent CD I had purchased ("Cafe Cubano"), from the usually far-left leaning "Putumayo" company, included as the #1 song Jose Conde y Ola Fresa's EL CHACAL.

I instantly noticed that the music for the song was the same as for that dreaded communist ode to Che, "Hasta Siempre Comandante".  (The Revolution is trying to make this their new 'Guantanamera'; every Cuban artist in the island must play it at their concert, it seems.)  I thought for a moment that I would have to throw the CD out the window!

Well, but what a wonderful surprise when listening to the lyrics, I noticed it was actually a satirical anti-Che song! - in a  Putumayo CD! - unfreakingbelievable!!!

Here are two web links well worth visiting that reference the song: HERE
and, the words to it HERE

PLEASE visit the site with the lyrics... Really powerful stuff, referencing the Cabaña, the firing squads, etc.

And, if you have the stomach for it and care to see the lyrics of the orginal one,

...let's continue debunking the myth!

SANTANA TWIN

oh, Santana watch out! - (Have you heard of this guy?)  RENE SOLER is in the house! {though they are of the same generation}

Here's a CUBAN guitarist that's been hiding in GREECE.  See his video clips for 'cubanita' - and make sure you watch the one that follows (Santana-like)... See HERE

FAMILY TRIVIA QUESTIONS:

With all the young people going off to college in the familia, who in the familia was the first to study abroad? (And, yes, it is a somewhat of a trick question!)

For the answer go to our Trivia Page - see link on the headmast of this e-mailer

PARTING THOUGHT:

If - as it once was and may some day be again - Christianity was a crime, is there enough evidence to convict you?

Stay positive.

HAPPY end of summer

NOTE: As of a few e-mailers ago, you may find that some pages in www.reemberto.com are password protected.  The password for the "Key Dates" is the short name for Reemberto.  The password for everything else is the "provincia" Geraldina and Reemberto have in common.
In our relentless search for Cuban Restaurants throughout the world, Geraldina found this one in Cape Town, South Africa - Buena Vista Social Cafe... But, it turned out to be a shrine to the S.O.B.s pictured here in their menu and wall hangings (text is my editorial comment.)... Needless to say, she did NOT eat there.

Note: For yet another Cuban Restaurant (this one in Detroit, Michigan) see the wedding pictures referenced in the first Headline.
Un europeo le dice a un cubano:
- ¿Y?, ¿cómo andan en Cuba?
- Mira chico ... no nos podemos quejar....
- Ah! Ni bien ni mal, ¿no?
- No, no! QUE NO NOS PODEMOS QUEJAR!!
