HEADLINES FOR THE MONTH

LOLA & CHARLES SET RECORD BY BEING THE HETEROSEXUAL COUPLE WITH MOST CHILDREN IN SAN FRANCISCO (three!)
From the San Francisco Examiner: San Franncisco continues to shed its reputation as a city exclusively for gays - and is on the verge of becoming a city that actually welcomes heterosexual couples.  (Much like Dupont Circle in DC is also increasingly diverse and no longer exclusively gay.)  Clearly, this new generation really welcomes diversity - and demonstrate that there is no room in our society for exclusivity! :-)

So, from the mother (Lola Barr):

Greetings from the land of sleepless nights.

We wanted to share our exciting news with you.
Phoebe Julie Barr  arrived on October 18th.
She weighed in at 10lbs, 5 oz, ensuring that she won't be
labeled "number three" but rather something along the lines of
"did you say 10lbs?!" or "the biggest one."

She is just a delightful girl. Sleeps a lot (yay!). Eats a lot.
Poops a lot. Sophie is very sweet with her and wants to hold her
and teach her to jump. Larry is also very gentle with her,
patting her and bringing her hat when it falls off. Hope that
trend keeps up for a long while.

CHUCHI WINS BASEBALL PREDICTION CONTEST!
No one picked the Rays (nor the Phillies for that matter) to make it to the World Series... But, Chuchi did pick three of the 6 Division winners.  That makes him the winner of our family "Baseball Prediction Contest".  (He gets free tickets to any Nationals game of his choice next season.)... To see how others fared, see HERE.

REMBE Jr WORKS THE WORLD SERIES!
Rembe Jr., represented the National League's Ballpark Operations Unit in Philadelphia... Which means he was there to ensure that all went well - and to partake in the excitement of the games!

KAKI READY TO TEACH!
Kaki finished her teaching prep phase (she will graduate early next year.)  So we now have yet another teacher in our familia! We are sure the Denver school system will be better for it... And, we know of at least one child - which happens to have a slight case of autism (one of her students) - that has already nicknamed her his 'Funny Bunny'!

MARIO VISITS THE NEWSEUM
Mario visited DC and enjoyed a day at the newsest museum, the "Newseum" - a non-governmental permanent museum of news in America... A fascinating place to visit! See pictures HERE.

...IN OTHER NEWS (FAMILY & OTHERWISE):

Is there ANY other news other than the US Presidential elections?  Regardless of your political leanings, PLEASE vote!... Remember: If you don't vote, you can't gripe afterwards!!!  [By the way, last month we did an informal family poll via this e-mailer.  The results may surprise some of you: Our familia seems to reflect the Nation, with the vote split pretty evenly between the two major parties.]

NEW & UPDATED LINKS TO FAMILY PICS AND/OR KOOL CUBA STUFF:

I know in the age of the internet there are a zillion such sites.  But, here's one that I just ran across that merits attention:

http://www.therealcuba.com/

Make sure you check out the links to the pictures of Cuba B.C.... This is one of the finest collections of black and white pictures I've seen on the web!

FAMILY TRIVIA QUESTIONS:

This one is a 'current event' familia trivia: Which two of our elderly have recently decided that its time to 'hang up the wheels' and stop driving (both for the same reason)?
