...IN OTHER NEWS (FAMILY & OTHERWISE):

From Jacqueline & Michael in Denver: I have officially finished all of my course work and I will begin my student teaching on August 5th.  I will be student teaching at Buffalo Ridge Elementary in Castle Pines Colorado.  I will be teaching in a fourth grade class room along with the teacher that I was volunteering for last school year.  She is a wonderful teacher and I hope to learn a lot from her!  I will teach from August 5th through October 31st.  Once I have finished my teaching and my professional portfolio I will be a certified teacher in the state of Colorado!!  I am so excited and I can't wait to get started!!

The LaFuente Familia had a great family reunion in Miami... Angela shared with us the incredibly beautiful "Family Tree" they have created - truly a masterpiece worthy of framing! (And fascinating info on it as well :-)   )

Cindy sent some update pics of Lukas & Drake... See HERE & HERE

The pet page has been updated (with a pic of Jack)!  See HERE

PICTURE OF THE MONTH:

NEW & UPDATED LINKS TO FAMILY PICS AND/OR KOOL CUBA STUFF:

Linito sent us this incredible video of Cuba - in the 1930's!  See HERE

Rembe Jr. found this really neat video that - particularly for any Atlanta Braves fan and/or St. Pius graduate - is very moving... (It is about the cancer home that sits next to Turner Field, where Monsignor Lopez lives, by the way!)  See HERE

If you have not seen Mark Rubio's video (or if you don't know what I am talking about) - and you care about Cubanism - you HAVE GOTTA GOTTA see this!  (Especially if you are under 30.)  HERE

...and oh yes: You may or may not notice that the video above come from an increasingly excellent blog called "babalu blog"... Check it out at www.babalublog.com

Did you know that there IS INDEED a "Cuban Monument" in Washington, DC?... Well, it took Jose Miguel to find it!... FASCINATING!  Check out more HERE

...and, you can find this and other mini-movies in our Mini-Movie page HERE

From Pedro ("Tiasytio"), a letter from an American regarding Cubans HERE

...and check out the other "All Things Cuban" on that page!

FAMILY TRIVIA QUESTIONS:

Who in the family has sung in Carnegie Hall?
Check the link to "Trivia" at the top of this pag to find out.

PARTING THOUGHT:

From our Tampa Familia: Regardless of what your views are on the Iraq war, we are all together in our collective praise of the young men and women that are fighthing and dying there... "If I die before you wake" is a beautiful song written and performed by real soldiers... See HERE

These are but two of the many many extremely anti-communist pictures that hang in the restaurant Cuban Corner in Rockville, Maryland.... There, you'll also find the 'quasi-official' Cuban Wall of Fame with placards of hundreds of Cubans that make us all proud...  (Interesting that nothing this blatant exists in Miami...)
Lissette, Nicolette, Travis, and Jason competed successfully (which means they actually finished!) in the Southeastern Brain Tumor Research: Race for Research... From them: "Thanks to all that contributed"!
BONUS PICTURE OF THE MONTH: Did you know that "el viejo Lino" had a gold tooth"?
See HERE...
