FAMILY e-MAILER December   2007
DISCLAIMER: ANY MISSPELLING IN SPANISH - or english, for that matter - IS INTENTIONAL AND FOR 'EFFECT' ONLY.

- Te voy a ir a buscar.

Back to a Favorite Topic

As reported last month, Lino passed the bar and has now taken the oath to be faithful to the US Constitution, etc...  In honoring his law concentration (immigration), you are encouraged to visit a couple of sites that have videos relevant to this politically charged hot potato:
   -  From Cele, a gem from the Onion News Network HERE
   -  And, from our site, if you have not seen it, HERE

----------------------------------------------

On a serious note:

If you've lost a pet recently - as we did - you'll love the Rainbow Poem HERE  (be ready for tears though!)

----------------------------------------------

From the "I-am-proud-to-be-Cubano" files:

Cuban physician Oscar Elías Biscet and seven others were awarded the presidential medal of freedom by George W. Bush in a White House ceremony recently. But Dr. Biscet will not be there to accept his honor in person. Today, like most days for the better part of the past eight years, he is locked away in a dungeon on Fidel Castro's island paradise.

And, continuing on a serious note regarding 'the old Country', if - and only if - you enjoy serious reading and truly listening to authors talk about their book, check CARLOS EIRE's talk at the Library of Congress.  (Eire is the author of 'Waiting for Snow in Havana'; he is also a Peter Pan guy; AND a Yale University renowned historian of religion and philosophy.)
   - His Bio from Yale HERE
   - His book talk at Library of Congress HERE
   - An interview HERE
By the way, all of the above comes from a fascinating web site called "Research Channel" www.researchchannel.org

For those of us that can't live without baseball, have you ran across the baseball site that is "All Cuban"?  HERE

It's the reason for the Season!

And, as we get going in this CHRISTMAS season, remember, it is
C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S, not "happy holidays"... If you are the faith-type, you'll enjoy this video making this point HERE

OLD-FASHION SLIDE SHOW

I finally got around to putting up some of the old-fashion slide shows up on the web... The first one to go up (all of 3 caroussels - so it IS long!) is the "Tribute" we did for Geraldina when she got her degree back in 1990 at Gerogria State University... Check it out... It has some gems from days gone by... DO know that this is a 'labor of love' - NOT a high quality production!  HERE
NOTE: When you go to that site, make sure you hit
"SLIDESHOW" & PUT THE 'seconds' to 1 or 2
(otherwise it will be a loooong show!)
----------------------------------------------

TRIVIA QUESTIONS:

RODRIGUEZ: ( note: This one is done with the permission of the 'guilty' party - indeed, she was the one that shared this story with me...  It is shared in a 'loving' way :-) )   Which childless sister would take a baby from the crib and tell him - silently so his mother would not hear it - "ay hijo, tu madre no tiene la culpa de ser tan yegua"?

DOMINGUEZ: ¿We know that the Rodriguez klan has strong Mexican connections (with Sussette, Lino’s wife.)  BUT: What is the Dominguez’ Mexican connection (dating back to early 20th century!)?

Como siempre, para la contesta sigue el enlace a la pagina TRIVIA en:

Por favor verifica si tenemos todas las fechas importantes  AQUI

Have a FELIZ NAVIDAD!
